What is the SaunaBox Forge Outdoor made of?

The SaunaBox Forge is a traditional Finnish dry sauna built for year-round indoor or outdoor use. We prioritize the integrity of the materials used in construction to ensure a safe, durable, and weather-resistant wellness environment.

Below is a detailed breakdown of the materials used in the Forge:

100% Canadian Hemlock Interior

The full interior of the Forge is finished in 100% Canadian Hemlock — a light-toned, low-resin, low-odor wood that is well suited to sauna interiors. Hemlock stays comfortable to the touch even when the cabin is at full temperature, and resists warping and cracking under repeated high-heat cycles.

Weather-Resistant Exterior Cladding

The exterior is matte black aluminum paneling over a cedar frame. This combination is engineered to endure the elements year-round, making the Forge suitable for backyards, patios, poolside areas, and covered exterior structures.

Harvia® Vega Compact Heater

Heat is produced by a Harvia Vega Compact BU 3.5 kW heater (Model #HCBU352401), a commercial-grade Finnish sauna heater. The heater warms both the air and the included sauna rocks, allowing water to be poured over the rocks for a brief burst of steam (löyly).

Tempered Glass Door

The Forge features a full-length black-tinted tempered glass door with matte black hinges and a branded pull handle. The tint adds privacy while keeping the cabin visually open.

Additional Components

  • Bench: Single bench with an ergonomic S-shaped backrest, 6 cm (2.36 in) slat thickness.
  • Flooring: Slatted wood flooring, elevated for drainage and barefoot comfort.
  • Raised Feet: Ground clearance that promotes drainage and airflow underneath the cabin.
  • FlowCore Ventilation: An active convection system with a 60W fan, a floor-level intake, and a ceiling exhaust, plus a louvered black exterior vent panel for passive airflow.
  • Lighting: RGB LED ambient lighting (color-selectable) for chromotherapy.
  • Electrical Components: All internal wiring and electronics are rated for high-temperature environments.
